| Born to serve the life sentence
of his father, Bane's childhood and early adult life was spent behind
the walls of Pena Duro, the infamous prison fortress of Santa Prisca.
After more than three decades, Bane was made the subject of experiments of a highly addictive, gene-altering drug called Venom, capable of giving its user tremendous strength in exchange for sanity. Escaping from Pena Duro, he made for Gotham City, temporarily disabling Batman and taking over the Gotham underworld, proving the merits of his name, Bane. Bane arrived in Gotham where he destroyed Arkham and unleashed its occupants on the city. This was part of a plan to weaken Batman and defeat him which he did. Bane's control of Gotham was short lived as he was defeated by Azrael. During this time, Bane was able to overcome his addiction to Venom and nearly helped Ra's Al Ghul unleash a virus on the planet. He's crossed paths with Batman many times afterwards though most of them have been non violent. |
